Nailwraps: Influences

Over the last year Phoebe Davies has been working in collaboration with groups of women exploring current attitudes to feminism, female expectation and aspirations and women of influence. Drawing upon the contemporary culture of nail art these dialogues and collaborations have resulted in a set of printed nail designs depicting women of personal influence or significance, to be worn and distributed to friends, family and peers.

As part of Southbank Centre’s Women of the World festival in March 2013 the nailwrap sets were applied at a nail bar run by the project participants. The nail bar acted as a site to exchange opinions and ideas questioning what feminism means to young women today.

Over the WOW weekend they applied over 500 nailwraps to men and women of all ages.
